F.A.Q.
How long is each session?
Each session is an hour long, with 5 minutes in the end to discuss the day’s progress.
Why?
Various studies have determined that optimal time span of learning is around 45 Minutes for most people. This is easy enough to see in practice – students zonk out right around that time.
What sort of payment do you accept
Cash, checks made out to The Brooklyn Math Tutors, and PayPal.
Do you tutor groups?
No. The benefit of tutoring is the interactive, one-on-one nature of the interaction.
Where do you tutor?
What neighborhoods do you provide services in?
Neighborhoods that are reasonably easy enough for us to get to, and that we are comfortable traveling to. This includes most areas that are serviced by the B, Q, F, D, M, N, or R line. Just ask.
Do you tutor in Manhattan?
Yes. Some of our tutors live in Manhattan, and a few are willing to travel on a case by case basis.
Can I request a specific tutor
Of course. If you feel that a particular tutor would be most appropriate for you or your children, feel free to request them.
Will you tutor for an exchange of goods or services?
Why not? If you have an idea, it never hurts to ask.
Do you offer any sort of discounts or financial aid?
Yes. Our junior tutors charge a lower rate and often work with younger students, adult students working on introductory level classes, and families in financial need.
